Stevenson Ends Collegiate Career As Four-Time All-American

Morningside College’s Jake Stevenson earned All-American honors during the 2008 NAIA Wrestling National Championships held March 6-8 in Sioux City.

Stevenson, a senior from Petersburg, placed third in the 184-pound division. The top six finishers in each weight class are considered All-Americans.

Stevenson scored a come-from-behind 5-4 triumph over Chris Thompson of Montana State University-Northern in the third-place consolation match. After trailing 4-2 early, Stevenson was behind 4-3 before scoring a takedown with 35 seconds remaining in the match.

Stevenson, the Mustangs’ all-time victory leader, finished the season 29-5 and closed a brilliant career with a mark of 130-25. He was a four-time All-American and the 2007 NAIA 184-pound national champion.
