Boone Central’s top individual runners again turned in impressive performances at the always-tough Norfolk Catholic Invitational Friday, Sept. 12.
The Cardinals scored top-five finishes in each division of the meet that featured some top Northeast Nebraska runners.
“We had a great day to run, nice and cool, you couldn’t ask for a better day this early in the season,” noted Card Coach Tom Dickey. “As a result, we ran pretty fast!”
“I was pleased with our lead kids finishing in the top five of each race. Now we just need to work on closing the big gaps between our runners.
“We’ve been battling some injuries and sickness, but seem to be making progress, so I think we’ll see good improvement throughout this week.”
Senior Halie Smith led the Boone Central girls, placing fourth in a time of 16:54 – the number two mark all-time on school charts. Junior Kevin Carder was also impressive in the boys varsity division with a fifth place finish and fourth-best all-time clocking of 17:46.
In the JV race, BC’s Cody Bryant took fourth with a 20:59. Calvin Koziol won the boys junior high event in 6:43 and Cassidy Pribnow was fourth in the girls junior high race in 7:40.
