New owners for local Subway

Teri PeitzmeierAlbion’s Subway store has new owners.

Teri and Gregg Peitzmeier of Neligh, NE, purchased the Albion business effective Wednesday, Jan. 7, from Mary and Keith Bittner of Albion.

The Bittners opened the Albion Subway restaurant on June 16, 1993 at its current location near the intersection of Highways 14-39 and 91.

Teri Peitzmeier trained as manager at the Albion restaurant during its first year of operation.

The Bittners then opened a second Subway on Highway 275 in Neligh on April 25, 1994, and Teri became manager there.

The Peitzmeiers became sole owners of the Neligh Subway in January, 2001. They are both natives of Bloomfield, NE, and have lived in Neligh for the past 20 years. Gregg is employed at Jonny Dodge. They have a daughter, Tiffany, 20, a student at Mount Marty College, Yankton, SD, and a son, Brandon, 10, a fifth grade student in Neligh.

The Albion restaurant will maintain basically the same operation with the same employees under new ownership, the Peitzmeiers said.

The Bittners also owned a third Subway store at Central City from 1996 to 2003.

Mary is stepping down from the Subway business due to health issues. She plans to spend more time with family, while Keith will concentrate on their farming operation with their sons.

The Bittners’ oldest son lives at Royal, NE. Two sons and their families live in the Albion area.
