Good news by Larry and Radene Temme, owners of Rae Valley Market, was given at the Petersburg Community Club meeting held at the Legion Club on Monday, May 4, 2009.
Temmes explained that the Lindsay grocery store was closed in 2004 for approximately 18 months until a group of investors decided to reopen the facility. The investors spent $140,000 on renovation and it was opened in 2005. Larry spoke to the Lindsay board and they were open to combining the ordering for both stores. Temmes will be leasing the Lindsay store. The Lindsay store has two dependable employees who will remain. The purchasing will be done at Rae Valley Market. Larry also commented they had made their quota for the month.
Jim Leifeld said, “I want to thank you guys for stepping up and doing this.”
The Petersburg Foundation committee have met and are moving along with that project. It is expected to be under the Boone County Foundation to save expenses, but all donations would go to Petersburg and the committee will regulate distribution of funds.
Jim Leifeld has the application for a welcome sign on the north end of town. The sign committee will discuss placement and type.
