City to transfer land to hospital

At a special meeting Monday, Sept. 28, the Albion City Council approved a motion to transfer a plot of city-owned land to Boone County Health Center for hospital parking.

The land, measuring about 120 feet by 132 feet, is located north of the Albion Swimming Pool. It is currently a grassed area with a picnic shelter.

The land will be transferred at no cost to the Health Center, but the hospital will be responsible for rebuilding the shelter at a location yet to be determined. BCHC must also pay any required survey or abstract costs.

The property will be checked for underground utility lines before concrete paving. Vic Lee, CEO of the Health Center, expressed appreciation to the council for the transfer, which will help relieve parking congestion at the hospital. He said the best access points to the new parking area appeared to be from Eighth Street.
