Cards Garner All-District, All-Conference Honors

Ten Cardinal gridders received C1-6 District Honorable Mention and two BC volleyball players were Mid-State Honorable Mention.
Three Cards were named to the C1-6 All-District 1st team. Senior Nathan Olson was selected as a defensive lineman. Olson was Boone Central’s leader in solo tackles in 2009 (44), second in total tackles (106) and first in sacks (5) and tackles for loss (16.5). Senior Dustin Christo was selected as a linebacker after leading the Cardinals in total tackles (106). Christo was the team leader in assisted tackles (67), second in solo stops (39) and had two sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss. Also picked as a 1st team linebacker was senior Kody Maricle. He was third in total tackles (40) for BC, had one tackle for loss and blocked a kick. Senior Kevin Liss was selected to the All-District 1st team as a wide receiver. Liss led Boone Central with 20 receptions for 293 yards and four touchdowns this past season. He was also a dangerous return man, averaging 21 yards on 15 kickoff returns and 10 yards on seven punt returns.

Defense: DB- Justin Chmelka (D. City), Gabe Rohde (T. River), Austin Wallick (Scotus); DL- Ethan Heser (Cent.), Nathan Olson (B. Cent.), John Tonniges (Cent.), Isiah Williams (Mad.); LB- Dustin Christo (B. Cent.), Braylan Gierhan (Cent.), Lucas Kastl (D. City), Kody Maricle (B. Cent.), Pat McKay (Scotus).
Boone Central was represented on the 2009 Mid-State All-Conference volleyball team by senior Megan Bygland. Bygland was one of the Cardinals’ top threats at the net this past season, hitting .796 (258-of-324) with a .496 percentage on 161 kills. She also served .944 and had a .910 percentage returning serve. Bygland finished with 23 solo blocks and 32 block assists.
Two Cards received Mid-State Honorable Mention. Senior Erica Carder directed the Boone Central attack in 2009 with 423 assists on 976 sets. She led the team with 25 service aces and 215 digs. Carder had 12 solo blocks and 17 block assists. Junior Bobbi Beckwith was one of Boone Central’s best all-around players. Beckwith served at a .945 success rate with 10 aces, hit .863 (203-of-235) with 136 kills (.578), made 205 digs, passed at an .892 clip and registered 15 solo blocks with 24 assists.
