Nebraska Public Power District, along with Midwest Wind Energy, LLC, Edison Mission Group (EMG), and EMG affiliate Laredo Ridge Wind, LLC, last week announced a 20-year power purchase agreement, paving the way for construction of an 80-megawatt wind farm near Petersburg.
The purchase price per kilowatt hour was not divulged. An NPPD spokesman said this is “proprietary information” because Midwest Wind Energy has other wind farm projects pending in Nebraska. NPPD said the purchase price is comparable to its cost of buying electricity on the open market.
The Laredo Ridge Wind Energy Project is planned for completion by the end of 2010.
