The winter that just won’t end

Abandoned carA big winter storm spoiled Valentine’s Day for many area residents. Driving conditions turned ugly across much of eastern Nebraska early Sunday morning, Feb. 14, and the storm continued through Sunday night.

Winds of up to 45 mph caused drifting and “white outs” with zero visibility on area highways and county roads. Several multiple vehicle accidents were reported, including a five-vehicle accident on Highway 14 in northern Boone County. Above, a car abandoned during the storm sits on the edge of Highway 91 in eastern Boone County.
