A heavy, but brief rain shower greeted runners and walkers early Saturday morning, but it could not damper the enthusiasm of more than 90 participants in the 2nd Annual Cardinal Run/Walk held in conjunction with the Albion/Boone Central Alumni.
Event coordinator Nicole Levander was pleased with the turnout that included approximately 90 adult runners/walkers in a wide range of ages and 11 participants in the kid’s run.
Kevin Carder of Albion, a 2010 graduate of Boone Central, was the overall male winner in the 5K run with a time of 16:55. Another former Cardinal, 2009 BC graduate Halie Smith, was the fastest overall female in the 5K with a 20:13 clocking.
In the one-mile kid’s run, Laura Rankin (age 10) of Spalding ran the fastest girls time (6:06) and Justin Zoucha (age 12) of Schuyler was the fastest boy (6:08).
