Although Albion’s community fireworks display should be over in less than half an hour this Friday night, July 2, it will be one of the biggest and best displays staged in the community in recent years.
The display should begin at about 10:30 p.m. Friday just north of Boone County Raceway. It is sponsored by the City of Albion with pledges and donations of more than $6,000 from local businesses, individuals and organizations.
The project originated with an idea of creating a unified Independence Day event that the community could rally behind. First, a fund drive was held to raise the money for fireworks, which have been sponsored by the raceway on its own for about 10 years.
