While successful results haven’t been there consistently for Boone Central during the 2010 volleyball season, effort certainly has been.
With freshmen and sophomores playing key roles this season, the Cardinals fell to 1-12 with losses to Adams Central and St. Paul in a triangular at Albion Tuesday, Sept. 21.
Boone Central pushed both opponents in the second games of the matches, however, continuing to show improvement as the campaign progresses.
“The girls did very well serving and receiving. Some silly mistakes and blocking errors were the downfall on this night,” commented Cardinal Coach Erin Eickhoff. “We were on a wild rollercoaster of high points and low points in the matches.
“The girls are looking forward to home matches this week against Ord and Battle Creek.”
The match Thursday vs. Battle Creek will also be Seniors/Parents night for the Boone Central volleyball program.
Boone Central opened Tuesday’s triangular with a 14-25, 22-25 loss to Adams Central, seemingly picking up their level of play as the match progressed.
After St. Paul used a mid-match hot streak to post a 25-10 victory in the initial set of the nightcap, Boone Central led much of set two before faltering late and dropping a 25-19 decision.
