Boone Central Volleyers Still Seeking 2nd Victory

Jenna Lehmann tries for the killUnfortunately, struggles continued for Boone Central’s young volleyball team last week.
After dropping a 9-25, 11-25, 11-25 decision to Ord (no stats or details available), the Cardinals were defeated 25-16, 25-10, 25-17 by Battle Creek on Senior/Parents Night in Albion.
Boone Central was competitive against the Bravettes in sets one and three, but could not sustain enough momentum to score a victory.
Marissa Beierman led the Cards’ serving efforts with two aces on 6-of-6 serving. Kallie Kayton, Alexa Johnson and Jade Gottier each served one ace.
Jenna Lehmann led Boone Central at the net with five kills on 8-of-12 hitting and two solo blocks. Gottier added three kills and Kayton chipped in two. Johnson (five assists) and Rachel Lee (four) directed the Cardinal attack.
Gottier had a strong match defensively, returning 12-of-15 serves and leading the team in digs (10). Lehmann had six digs in the match, Johnson four.
Boone Central dropped to 1-13 with the losses.
