Leaders of the Albion Chamber of Commerce and Albion Economic Development Corp. (AEDC) announced plans for the upcoming year during the annual banquet for both organizations Sunday evening, Jan. 23, at the Albion Country Club.
Jill Anding, executive director of both organizations, reviewed the past year’s activities. Shirley Petsche, 2010 chamber president, introduced Dr. Rich Heidemann as the new chamber president.
Dr. Heidemann introduced plans for 2011 events, which will include a new event, the Home, Farm and Garden Show on April 2, as well as Golf Scramble, Rhythm ‘n Ribs, Stinker Days, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Trick-or-Treating, Customer Appreciation Day, Christmas promotion, Santa Claus visit and Hayrack Ride.
Doug Young, AEDC president, announced the new community development goals for 2011: Build one new affordable home and rehabilitate one existing home; begin a facade improvement program for downtown buildings, and recruit at least one new business to Albion.
