A contract with Maguire Iron was signed at the Petersburg Village Board meeting held last Tuesday, Feb. 1 for painting the water tower at a cost of $22,820.
Village Supervisor Koch noted the bowl is rusting and it needs to be done. The water tower has not been painted in 19 years and is expected to be done during July or August. Koch added he saw no problem having the tower shut down, because the wells can handle it.
Chairman Thieman asked Supervisor Koch if there is a possibility of having “Established 1887” put in letters under the name. Supervisor Koch will contact the company.
The tower was inspected in 2005 and the board would like the job completed prior to the 2012 Q125.
