Boone Central opened the 2011 boys golf season by defeating Ord in dual competition at the Albion Country Club Tuesday, April 5.
Enjoying one of the nicer days of the early spring season, the Cardinal varsity posted a 187 team score to top the Chants (196) by nine strokes. The Boone Central junior varsity was also victorious, defeating the Ord JV 211-236.
Junior Kade Leetch led Boone Central with a nine-hole score of 44 on the ACC layout. Ord’s Clayton Keown had the day’s low score with a 43. Two other Cardinals broke the 50 mark, as senior Trey Sorell fired 45 and senior Curtis Thompson 47. Sophomore Hunter Henry’s 51 rounded out BC’s 187 total.
For the Boone Central JV, three players were in the lows 50s to lead the Card victory. Freshman Caleb Walters shot an even 50, sophomore Jesse Zwiener 52 and senior Jacob Olson 53. Walter’s 50 was the low JV round of the competition.
