Boone Central junior Kade Leetch fired the best Cardinal round of 2011 to place third in the Mac Invite at the Wayne Country Club Thursday, May 5.
Leetch actually tied for low score of the tournament as he carded a 39/39-78. Crofton’s Christian Nohr and Blake Bowland of Tekamah-Herman also shot 78, with Nohr winning the playoff for gold medalist honors.
Boone Central finished 14th in team standings with a 366 score. Tekamah-Herman (329) won the team championship ahead of Blair (340) and South Sioux City (340).
Leetch was the only Cardinal to break 80 on the Wayne C.C. layout. Senior Curtis Thompson finished the tourney with a 44/48-92. Rounding out Boone Central scoring (top four comprise team score) were sophomore Hunter Henry (47/50-97), junior Sean Soll (48/51-99) and senior Trey Sorell (51/52-103).
Following Nohr, Bowland and Leetch in the individual standings were Jack Peterson of South Sioux City and Schuyler’s Clint Kracl, both at 79. Those five were the only golfers below 80.
Boone Central was scheduled to participate in the Fullerton Invitational Tuesday. The Cardinals will compete in the C3 District tournament Monday, May 16, at the Norfolk Country Club.
