Activity is increasing throughout the Third Planet Windpower (TPW) construction area east of Petersburg, where the new 27-tower wind farm will be built.
Road work has been underway since mid-April on several county roads starting about four miles east of Petersburg, as well as access roads to the wind tower sites.
Recently, excavation work for the tower bases has been completed at some sites, and concrete layers called “slab seals” have been poured in preparation for rebar installation. The rebar crew was installing tons of steel rebar for four tower bases last week, and the first base was to be poured on May 10, weather permitting.
