Heat, humidity reduce early attendance at fair

Some of the hottest weather of summer arrived in time for the 2011 Boone County Fair. The blast of July heat and humidity reduced attendance at opening weekend events.

Heat indexes were in the high 90s on Saturday and well over 100 on Sunday, which reduced the number of people on the fairgrounds, said Dave Noble, fair board chairman.

Larger attendance, along with a break in the heat and humidity, was expected for grandstand events Monday through Wednesday evenings.
