With Albion drivers placing 1-2 in the Late Model ‘A’ Feature Friday, July 22, at the Boone County Raceway, local favorite Mark Lueken regained the LM season point lead from Tad Pospisil of Norfolk.
Pospisil had wrested the season lead from Lueken for the first time a week earlier with his third straight BCR feature victory, but Lueken edged back on top by one point Friday with a second-place run behind fellow Albion racer Mike Kelley.
That was the only point lead change, although just one leader, Albion’s Jacob Anson in Modifieds, won an ‘A’ event at the fairgrounds oval.
Chris Tenski of St. Edward retained his Hobby Stock advantage by a single digit with a sixth-place feature finish in that class and had better success in B Mod racing where he won an ‘A’ race for the first time. Season leader Kyle Prauner of Norfolk had a second consecutive runner-up B Mod feature finish after winning seven straight to open the summer.
Albion’s Kevin Krohn won the Hobby Stock ‘A’ Feature for the second week in a row and Ron Pettit of Norfolk took his third feature checkers in Stock Car racing. Gary Reber of Gregory, SD won the second Holt County Sprints feature of the BCR’s abbreviated season schedule in that class.
