After a 1 1/2-hour public hearing Monday afternoon, the Boone County Commissioners tabled a decision on a conditional use permit that would allow construction of a Class I hog confinement unit northwest of Albion.
The hog finishing facility, proposed for construction by Niewohner Farms Partnership, received a recommendation for approval from the County Planning Commission on June 27. It would be located on the west side of 240th Avenue, and would contain up to 2,599 head of hogs.
About 14 people were on hand for the hearing, and several testified against the proposed facility.
Commissioners scheduled a decision on the conditional use permit for their Aug. 22 meeting.
