After reviewing proposals from four companies, Albion City Council voted last Tuesday night, Sept. 13, to authorize Mayor Jim Jarecki to begin contract negotiations with Burbach Aquatics of Wisconsin for consulting and design services on a new swimming pool.
The city’s Swimming Pool Advisory Committee had given Burbach Aquatics the highest rating after interviews with four companies over the past several months. The council began by acknowledging the pool committee’s recommendation and commending the committee for its effort in reviewing the consultants’ applications.
Preliminary work aimed at eventual construction of a new city swimming pool began last January after Mitzi Fox announced a donation of more than $266,000 for a new pool, if it is built within the next five years. Several members of the pool advisory committee were present for the meeting.
