Boone Central Still After Volley Victory

A frustrating 2011 season continued for the Boone Central volleyball team with a pair of losses in triangular action at St. Paul Sept. 20.
Adams Central defeated the Cardinals 25-20, 25-14 and the host Wildcats topped BC 25-23, 25-12.
“We’re still trying to overcome a lack of confidence and execution,” noted Card Coach Susan Roberts. “We made too many errors, hitting a negative percentage in both matches and only serving at 80 percent against Adams Central.
“We received serve pretty well and continued to improve on defense, but failed to execute the end of plays with our attacks.
“We need to execute in all facets of the game in order to be competitive and give ourselves a chance to win.”
Jade Gottier led Boone Central with six kills on 21-of-25 hitting against Adams Central. Jenna Lehmann also had six kills and two blocks in the match. Kaity Stuhr directed the attack with 10 assists, while defensively, Kelli Larson made seven digs.
Lehmann led the Cards at the net in the St. Paul match with three kills and two blocks. Gottier and Stuhr made seven digs each in the contest. Alexa Johnson topped assists with six and Lehmann served three aces.
