Playing in extremely windy conditions that made every ball in the air an adventure, Boone Central finished a successful 2011 softball season by placing third in the C-5 District tournament Oct. 6-7 at the Albion Sports Complex, just missing an opportunity to play in the event’s championship game.
Boone Central, which concluded its campaign 18-13, faced Tekamah-Herman in an elimination game Friday after splitting four previous tournament games.
The Cardinals led throughout the contest, only to see Tekamah-Herman rally for a dramatic 3-2 victory in the bottom of the seventh and final inning.
That advanced the Tigers to the district final where they were beaten 3-0 by Guardian Angels Central Catholic of West Point for the C-5 championship.
