When challenged in the 2011 Class C State Girls Golf Championship at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus, the Boone Central Cardinals stepped up their game.
Boy, did they ever!
Tied with Valentine following Monday’s first round, with familiar Mid-State Conference foe Wayne lurking just two shots back, Boone Central blew away the field Tuesday to win a third consecutive Class C championship. The Cardinals followed up their 373 Monday team total with a sizzling 359 Tuesday to win the 2011 crown by 25 strokes over Wayne.
Cardinal senior Britany Seda concluded her career in style, as well, placing runner-up individually to four-time Class C champion Danielle Lemek of Doniphan-Trumbull. Seda had rounds of 82-80 for a 162 two-day total. Junior Amy Ahlers added an 85 to her opening-round 88 and placed fifth at 173.
Complete details on Boone Central state championship will appear in the Oct. 19 edition of the Albion News.
