Cardinal Grapplers Split Dual Meets

Skyler WeberJake MeyerUps and downs.
Not unexpected for a young team.
The Boone Central wrestlers competed in a pair of duals this past week, knocking off host Creighton/Verdigre Thursday before getting smacked by a tough York outfit Friday in Albion.
“It was good to pick up the win in our dual opener, but York got on a roll Friday and put it to us for the most part,” commented veteran Cardinal Coach Dale Bonge. “The action on the mat showed we have a ways to go in our technique, set-ups and positioning.
“There were several matches we had opportunities to have a better result had we done better in those areas. That is what we will be working on this week.”
Bonge also pointed out some positive results from the competition.
“Bobby Stopak and Jake Meyer led the team, scoring victories in both duals. Mark O’Brien won his varsity debut with a pin of his York opponent,” he noted. “Michael Lipker, Skyler Weber and Kody Sock each went 1-1 against some solid competition.”
