Following a big victory like the Boone Central Lady Cardinals’ dismantling of #2 ranked Minden Dec. 19, coaches are always wary of a letdown.
While the Cards got off to a bit of a sluggish start at Lakeview Thursday, there were no long-term effects to damper a terrific start to the 2011-12 season in Boone Central’s final contest before the holiday break.
Boone Central, playing deep into its roster throughout the game, wore down the host ViQueens and ran away with a 55-29 decision that improved its record to 7-0.
“We have great depth in both our post play and guard play,” Cardinal Coach Mike Kennedy commented. “It really is amazing. We can put four guards on the floor or three posts on the floor.
“It all depends on what we want to do.”
What the Cardinals wanted to do at Lakeview was avoid any lapses after the physically and emotionally-draining win over Minden and keep their record unblemished at the break.
“I think this is the perfect time for the holiday break,” Kennedy acknowledged. “We will get five days away from the game, come back with one practice and then play in the holiday tournament.
“The scheduling is working out well for us.”
