Steve Boyer of Third Planet Windpower visited with the Petersburg Village Board at their meeting last Tuesday evening, and presented them with a large framed photo of the TPW wind farm. During the commissioning, the picture was signed by dignitaries attending, including Governor Dave Heineman.
Chairman Thieman thanked Boyer for the time and effort Third Planet put forth in Petersburg. Boyer stated, “Gestamp now owns two farms which sell to OPPD. Besides Petersburg’s, the other wind farm is Flatwater in Richardson County. ENXCO will likely be the company doing the warranty and maintenance work on TPW, and so far the name of the wind farm has not been changed.”
Boyer commented that he did try to impress on the new owners the importance of having someone in Petersburg. He is currently working in Madison County. He also explained the 132-tower Prairie Breeze site, the proposed wind farm in Antelope County, is the first in the state to apply for an out-of-state sale of electricity.
