Hail up to the size of tennis balls and baseballs pounded the community of Petersburg last Saturday afternoon, April 15.
The hail caused extensive damage to roofs and vinyl siding, broke windows in houses and vehicles, and dented vehicles.
Petersburg residents were still assessing the damage early this week.
National Weather Service said Petersburg received three-inch diameter hail that lasted seven minutes, but Vet Stuhr, local Civil Defense director, said it seemed longer than that. The storm hit between 12 noon and 1 p.m.
