Boone County had Nebraska’s highest voter turnout at 59.8 percent for the May 15 primary election, according to Secretary of State John Gale.

The ballot in Boone County included a bond issue for Boone Central Schools, a Republican race for District 2 County Commissioner, and an eight-way race for two seats on the St. Edward City Council, along with other local, regional and statewide races.

Statewide, the voter turnout was 25.9 percent, but 24 counties had turnout figures of 35 percent or higher.
