Kade Leetch In State Golf

Boone Central senior Kade Leetch concluded his high school career last week competing in the Nebraska Class C State Golf Championships at the Kearney Country Club.
Leetch, who qualified for state May 14 by tieing for 10th place in the C-3 District tournament at Fairplay Golf Course in Norfolk, was part of a 95-player field that was tested on the rolling terrain of Kearney Country Club’s 18-hole course Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22-23.
The Cardinal standout finished almost squarely in the middle of Class C golfers, tieing for 46th-48th with a 36-hole score of 172.
Leetch improved throughout the two-day competition. After opening with an 89 in extremely windy conditions Tuesday, he followed up with a strong 83 the following day, including a 40 on the closing nine holes.
“I think Kade was a little disappointed he didn’t shoot a bit better the first day,” said Cardinal Coach Dennis Walters. “The wind was a big factor and he had several putts that rimmed the edge of the cup and just would not drop. Five or six strokes better the first day and I think he would have been pretty satisfied.
“He had a good season. His goal was to get to the state tournament his senior year and he accomplished that.”
