Boone Central’s representatives in the Hastings Area All-Star Basketball Game – Jenna Lehmann and Jaime Kennedy – did all they could for the American team, but didn’t receive enough help as the Nationals scored a 66-59 victory June 2 at Adams Central High School.
Lehmann led all scorers in the game with 17 points and Kennedy netted 15 for the American squad, which built a 31-24 halftime lead.
Following intermission, the Nationals decided to change the tempo and, with the faster pace, forged a 38-34 lead with a 23-15 third-quarter run. The National team added 20 fourth-period points and used stout defense – allowing the Americans only 28 second-half points – to secure the decision.
Lehmann and Kennedy scored more than half of the American points, with Ord’s Molly welniak adding 12 and Hallie Bauer of Minden chipping in nine. No other American player scored more than two points.
