Albion voters approved a bond issue for a new swimming pool at a special election Tuesday, July 10, by a margin of 255 in favor and 164 opposed.
Approval of the $2,950,000 bond issue means that final plans for the new pool can be drawn this summer, with the goal of letting bids in the fall.
A total of 429 ballots were cast in the election, with 59.5 percent voting in favor and 40.3 percent opposed, according to unofficial results from the Boone County Clerk’s office. Only 35.4 percent of Albion’s 1,213 registered voters cast ballots.
