Back and forth they go.
Ron Pettitt edged in front of fellow Norfolk driver TeJay Miekle Friday night in the competitive Street Stock season point race at the Boone County Raceway in Albion.
Although both drivers were well shy of winning the race to the checkered flag in Friday’s Street Stock A Feature, Pettitt’s fifth-place finish allowed him to come from one point behind in the season battle and slip a single point in front of Miekle, who placed seventh in the feature.
With two nights of regular racing cards and Championship Night August 17, this should be a fight that goes right to the wire.
The remaining 2012 leaders at the BCR have much more comfortable margins in the stretch run to potential season championships.
Jason Wilkinson has a 34-point lead in the IMCA Hobby Stock division, Norfolk’s Tad Pospisil tops the Limited Late Model class by 22 points, Kyle Prauner of Norfolk is 20 points ahead of his nearest IMCA Sport Mods challenger, Cameron Meyer of Pierce has a 19-point cushion in IMCA Sport Compacts and Albion’s Tyler Iverson has gone 18 points up on local rival Jacob Anson in recent weeks.
