Boone Central senior Amy Ahlers continues to meet – and conquer – all challenges on the golf course.
Ahlers added to her 2012 golden run last week, winning the Mid-State Conference in record-setting fashion Tuesday and adding another tourney title at the Scotus Invitational Wednesday.
Ahlers remained unbeaten this fall by firing an outstanding 38/38-76 to win the Mid-State gold medal at Evergreen Hill Golf Course near Battle Creek. Her score set a new conference record, edging the previous mark of 77 held by Battle Creek’s Kim Kuhar.
It was the first conference championship in Ahlers’ illustrious high school career.
Boone Central was runner-up in the team competition to Norfolk Catholic with a score of 382. Sophomore Melissa Kyncl placed fourth individually with a 90 total. Freshman Kyley Sorell (106) and junior Jessica Tisthammer (110) rounded out the team score, while Cardinal Paige Krohn shot 143.
Boone Central did not field a full team in the Scotus Invite at Columbus’ Quail Run Golf Course, but Ahlers again topped the field, shooting a consistent 40/40-80 on the challenging 18-hole layout.
Kyncl (92) continued her own outstanding campaign, placing ninth. Krohn was the only other Cardinal in action, shooting 140.
