Cardinal junior Jade Gottier was one of 13 players selected for Mid-State All-Conference honors for their play during the 2012 high school volleyball season.
Along with Gottier, two other players from the Boone Central/Newman Grove that finished 11-14 this past fall – Newman Grove senior Darienne Pokorny and Boone Central junior Marissa Beierman – received Honorable Mention in voting by conference coaches.
Joining Gottier on the All-Conference team were Michaela Barry and Amy Miller of Norfolk Catholic; Lexi Steffen, Katelyn Dickes, Emily Schrempp and Kallie Leise of Hartington C.C.; Crofton’s Maria Wortmann; Abby Ortmeier, Emily Knobbe and Jamie Petz of Guardian Angels C.C.; and Krystina Koepke and Rachel Wiedenfeld of Pierce.
The three Cardinals honored were leaders for a Boone Central/Newman Grove team that nearly doubled the program’s win total of the previous two seasons combined.
Gottier led BC/NG in points (291), kills (256), digs (271) and successful serve receptions (571) and was one of the Cards’ top servers (94%).
Pokorny was also an all-around standout, second in points (255), kills (218), digs (249) and serve receptions (328), along with leading Cardinal servers (99%).
Beierman missed a portion of the season with a broken finger, but was still among the team leaders in serving (97%), kills (86), digs (104) and blocks (20).
