Village Board considers sewage treatment upgrade, Main Street project

Petersburg Village Board members discussed the UV sewage treatment upgrade at their monthly meeting held on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
Clerk Stokes has received the permit to begin construction on the UV system at the sewer plant from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ).
Trustee Thorberg stated, “We haven’t discussed how we’re going to make payment on the bond. Do we need to raise rates or add a surcharge? We will need to know.” There are approximately 180 -190 sewer customers. The funding issue will be discussed at the February meeting.
The board also decided to begin the bid letting process for the Main Street project beginning Jan. 9, 2013 with bid opening on Jan. 25.
