Sullivan bill on nursing home beds gains support at hearing

A bill to allow exceptions to the state’s current moratorium on licensed nursing home beds received support in a legislative committee hearing last week.
The Nebraska Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee held a hearing on the bill, LB 344 proposed by District 41 State Sen. Kate Sullivan, last Wednesday, Feb. 27.
The proposed bill would grant an exception to the moratorium for small communities that lose nursing home beds because they are sold or transferred by the owner outside a 25-mile radius.
