Storm brought ice, sleet and more

Albion residents faced a challenge in clearing ice from downtown sidewalks after the April 9-10 storm. It was an interesting week for weather in the Boone County area.
A highly unusual storm moved into the area late Tuesday and into Wednesday, April 9 and 10. It started with freezing rain, then sleet, hail and finally snow.
The storm caused power outages and left several inches of ice on most streets and sidewalks.
Few power outages were reported in Boone County due to the storm, but an estimated 400 to 500 customers of Cornhusker Public Power District were without power on Tuesday evening and Wednesday, April 9-10.
