St. Michael’s student wins County Spelling Contest

TOP THREE SPELLERS in the Boone County Contest were (back) McKenna Book, first place; Calvin Musil, l., second, and Jessie Sullivan, r., third.McKenna Book, a seventh grade student at St. Michael’s School in Albion, was first place winner in the Boone County Spelling Contest held last Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Boone Central.
McKenna earned the title by correctly spelling “allegro” and “oregano.” The finals required 49 words to determine the winner.
A total of 46 students competed, representing all of the county’s schools.
