Hog confinement application withdrawn, can be resubmitted

Conditional use applications for two proposed hog confinements were withdrawn before the scheduled Boone County Planning Commission hearings at the Albion KC Hall.
Jeff Jarecki, attorney representing Niewohner Brothers and JSMM Farms, told the board his clients were withdrawing the two applications with the intent to resubmit at a later date.
If the applications are resubmitted, hearings on the conditional use permits could be held as early as May.
Two Class I confined feeding operations (up to 1,000 animal units each) were proposed. One would be located northwest of Albion on 240th Avenue, and the other southwest of Loretto on 180th Avenue.
