Meyer brothers lead Cards to 4th in BC Invite

This time they were able to play.
Ten teams teed it up Tuesday, April 22, at the Albion Country Club for the annual Boone Central Invitational golf tournament, which had been postponed by weather conditions the previous week.
A strong Ord squad won the event with a 339 team total, five strokes in front of Humphrey St. Francis.
Boone Central/Newman Grove, led by medalists Jackson and Joel Meyer and Tyler Hedlund, had a solid day, placing fourth (367). Lakeview took third place with a 363 and Norfolk Catholic was just behind the Cardinals in fifth (371).

Senior Jackson Meyer opened with a 42 on his first nine, then added a 45 for an 18-hole score of 87 and seventh place. Sophomore Joel Meyer shot 43/49-92 to take 12th place and senior Tyler Hedlund secured the 15th and final individual medal in the tiebreaker procedure after shooting 46/47-93.
Rounding out Boone Central/Newman Grove’s varsity team total was senior Derek Gentrup with a 47/48-95. Junior Parker Wallin was just behind that at 45/51-96.
Freshman Blake Olnes led the Cardinal JV with a 51/48-99. He was joined in JV play by teammates Luke Johnson (53/50-103), Nathan Gottier (57/47-104), Jacob Atwood (61/54-115) and Justin Rasmussen (61/57-118).
