After eking out a 4-3 victory in their American Legion season opener Monday, May 26 (details in last week’s Albion News), the Albion Cornerstone Juniors were much more dominant improving to 2-0 Tuesday.
Cornerstone racked up eight runs in the first two innings and finished with a 10-0 five-inning victory over Sutton at the Albion Sports Complex’s Leon Nelson Memorial Field.
The Albion Juniors left little doubt in the outcome from the outset. Zac Diessner was hit by a pitch leading off the bottom of the first inning, Scott Ketteler followed with a walk and Kyle Kramer drove both home with a triple. Keaton Henry plated Kramer with a base hit and later scored to make it 4-0.
Cornerstone doubled that lead in the second, taking advantage of two Sutton errors, a walk and Kramer’s RBI single.
Ketteler ended the contest in the fifth, driving in Ryan Thiem and Andrew Rasmussen with a base hit.
