Village Board hears of BCDA changes

Boone County Development Agency (BCDA) Director Aubrey Pals and attorney Darren Wright of Albion were present to discuss changes in the organization.
Pals stated, “The budget is down this year due to staff changes.”
One item discussed was the membership and the time needed for a town to give notice when they no longer wish to be a member. Wright added that there have been some changes to the bylaws. Presently, there is a one year notice to withdraw, but there could be a problem depending on the time of year which could turn into two years. They are looking at changing it to six months.
The agency is now private, but there are new rules. Not everything needs to be submitted to the state. There could be a percentage or a flat fee.
