Tough times continued for the young Boone Central/Newman Grove girls basketball team this past Tuesday.
Twin River allowed the Cardinals just 14 points in the second and third quarters and used 19 offensive rebounds to spark a 47-35 victory in Albion.
It was the fourth straight loss for the BC/NG girls, dropping their season mark to 2-4.
“We ran into another very solid team in Twin River,” Cardinal Coach Andy Imus commented. “They were very fundamentally sound and disciplined.
“We started with a press that caused them problems when we ran it correctly. We had times when we weren’t trapping and taking the correct angles and they made us pay for it.”
Twin River built a 16-10 lead late in the first quarter as Lexi Ramaekers scored six points. The Titans then held BC/NG to six second-period points to take a 23-16 advantage into halftime.
Much of the visitors’ damage was done on the boards.
