Petersburg native establishes Mount Marty Scholarship

Dr. Carrol KrauseA memorial scholarship named for Petersburg native, Dr. Carrol Krause, has been established at Mount Marty College, Yankton, SD.
Dr. Krause died on Oct. 12, 2014. In his honor, his family and friends established the Dr. Carrol Krause Endowed Scholarship Fund at Mount Marty. He had a long and accomplished career in education.
Carrol Krause was born in 1936 in Petersburg, and was one of 11 children born to John and Rose Krause. He graduated from St. John’s High School in Petersburg; received bachelors and masters degrees from Wayne State College; and an educational doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He pursued post-doctoral work at the University of Miami in Florida. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, including one year in Korea, and used the G.I. bill to help finance his education.
