Riverside Charger 3rd in Class D2

Noah ValasekRiverside High School made its debut in the Nebraska Boys State Basketball Tournament in Lincoln in the Chargers’ first year of competition last week and carried home a third-place trophy in Class D2 to rest next to their 2014 Six-Man Football championship hardware.

Riverside opened its championship-double quest at Lincoln Southeast High School Thursday with a hard-fought 55-53 victory over perennial D2 power Falls City Sacred Heart before dropping a 50-35 decision to defending class champion Bancroft-Rosalie in Friday’s semi-final clash at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Chargers bounced back Saturday to top Minatare 56-45 in the consolation final.
