Boone Central voters pass school bond by 60 votes

Boone Central school facilities plan.Another try worked for the Boone Central School bond election.
Voters passed the $12.99 million school improvement bond by just 60 votes, with 982 in favor and 922 opposed.
Votes were counted in the all-mail election Tuesday evening, May 12, after the 5 p.m. deadline for submission of ballots.
County Clerk Kathy Thorberg said the 73 percent turnout for this election was among the highest in recent years for an election in Boone County. A total of 2,627 ballots were mailed out, and 1,909 were returned.
The bond measure was very similar to one that was defeated by just 41 votes in the general election last November. The only change was a reduction in gym seating capacity.
