Commissioners open five bids on tower

Five bids on the planned new county communications tower were opened by the Boone County Commissioners during their meeting last Wednesday, May 27.
The bids were reviewed with Region 44 Emergency Manager Tom Smith, who plans to return to the board’s June 8 meeting with a recommendation.
Based only on raw bids, the apparent low bidder was World Tower Co. based in Kentucky, at $227,449.
Also bidding the project were Sabre Industries, based in Sioux City, IA, at $256,209; Platte Valley Communications, based in Grand Island, NE, at $259,408; Allstate Tower Inc. of Kentucky, at $307,476, and Electronic Engineering, based in Sioux City, IA, at $362,244.
