Sewer backup addressed by village board

A report from resident Donna Kelly, who had experienced a problem when the sewer backed up into their basement, was brought to the attention of the Petersburg Village Board at their monthly meeting last Tuesday evening. She noted it had happened about the same time last year and had cost $1,000 to clean up. She explained that they cannot use any water at all when the backup occurs.
Village Utilities Superintendent Petsche explained that a $160 check valve could be installed in the Kelly sewer line, but that would be at the owner’s expense plus labor.
Petsche said Johnson’s Service usually comes around in the fall. He will have them check for roots and other issues.
