Big crowd gathers to discuss future of racing in Albion

More than 50 stock car drivers and crew members, fans and race supporters attended Boone County Fair Board meeting Monday night, Aug. 18, at the Fairgrounds Event Center to discuss the future of racing in Boone County.
The meeting followed a decision last week by track manager Ron Sutton to cancel the final race of the season on Aug. 14 due to circumstances related to insurance for track participants.

Fair Board President Dave Noble started the meeting by dispelling rumors that the fair board wants to eliminate racing at the fairgrounds track.

“We want racing to continue here,” Noble said.
